GTA 6 Isn’t Even Out Yet, But Rockstar Might Be Working on L.A. Noire 2

Grand Theft Auto VI isn’t even officially out yet, but players are already speculating what Rockstar’s next project will be. Many were hoping for Red Dead Redemption 3, but now there’s word of another answer: L.A. Noire 2 might be Rockstar’s next big thing! However, this is still just a rumor for now—Rockstar hasn’t officially announced a sequel.

This Time Heading to San Francisco to Catch the Zodiac Killer?

This rumor isn’t actually new—it first surfaced back in 2023. One insider revealed that Rockstar seemed to be considering a sequel to L.A. Noire, with the story potentially shifting from 1940s Los Angeles to San Francisco, centering on investigating the famous “Zodiac Killer” case. The insider even claimed the game aimed to set a new benchmark for visual fidelity, but it’s not expected to launch until at least after 2030.

Insider Correctly Predicted Some GTA 6 Details—Now That’s Credible!

What’s particularly intriguing is that some of what this insider revealed about GTA 6 later matched official information, such as the relationship between Jason and Lucia, and how player choices might affect their relationship development. So players are bringing up the L.A. Noire 2 claim again for discussion. But even if some predictions panned out, that doesn’t confirm L.A. Noire 2 is definitely happening. Plus, Rockstar currently needs to devote major resources to GTA 6 and its post-launch support—2030 might even be an optimistic estimate.

Take-Two Hasn’t Completely Dropped L.A. Noire Either

Worth noting: Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick was also asked about L.A. Noire’s future when discussing classic IPs this April. He said there’s no concrete news about L.A. Noire at the moment, but the company’s teams are always reviewing existing properties and considering which classic IPs are worth reviving. So at least L.A. Noire hasn’t disappeared from Take-Two’s radar. As for whether players will get Red Dead Redemption 3 first or wait for L.A. Noire 2, we’ll just have to wait for Rockstar to say something.
