Grand Theft Auto VI is locked in for November 19, 2026, and many games have adjusted their release dates to avoid this “game of the year explosion.” But Hooded Horse, publisher of Manor Lords, isn’t scared at all — their medieval management sim Blacksmith Master has decided to launch its 1.0 version on the exact same day. For other studios, it might seem like throwing eggs at a wall, but Hooded Horse isn’t planning to budge.
Players Looking to Steal Cars, Ending Up Forging Horseshoes?
Hooded Horse CEO Tim Bender even joked directly about GTA 6. He noted that players originally looking to “steal cars, shoot enemies with guns” in the PC version of GTA 6 might ultimately discover they want to control a bunch of little people and craft horseshoes. While clearly joking, he emphasized that GTA 6 won’t affect Blacksmith Master’s launch in any way, and that indie developers too often worry about colliding with big releases, when what they really need to avoid is similar AAA console action games in the same genre.
Others Delayed — But This Publisher Says It Doesn’t Matter!
GTA 6’s hype has definitely caused shifts in November 2026 release schedules, with multiple games avoiding the crowded November window — even Fable reboot delays have been linked to GTA 6. But Hooded Horse believes that Blacksmith Master, a medieval blacksmith shop management game, isn’t even in the same market as GTA 6, so there’s no reason to run away from it.
Can Blacksmith Master Actually Pull This Off?
Blacksmith Master is a medieval blacksmith shop management sim where players manage craftsmen, forge weapons and tools, and gradually expand their business. Its gameplay is so different from GTA 6 that they’re practically from two different worlds, so Hooded Horse’s decision to go head-to-head is quite an interesting experiment. As for whether players on November 19 will choose to steal cars in Vice City or stay in their blacksmith shop forging metal, we’ll find out when it launches.
