Wardogs Dev Warns: Don’t Expect Enough Content

Wardogs game

The multiplayer shooter Wardogs exploded in popularity after launching on Steam Early Access, attracting hundreds of thousands of players in less than two weeks. However, this sudden surge presented another challenge for the development team Bulkhead: the more players there are, the higher expectations rise for updates and new content. Studio CEO and Game Executive Director Joe Brammer admitted that the team originally didn’t design the game for such a large player base.

CEO Admits Directly: Content Really May Not Be Enough

Brammer honestly stated that the team won’t be able to satisfy all players, and can’t keep up with everyone’s demands for content. He put it bluntly: “We won’t have enough content for the players, and we can’t keep up with the demand.” However, he doesn’t think this means players can’t have fun — the team will still focus on gradually improving the game and pushing toward a 1.0 release and console platform launch.

ARC Raiders Also Experienced Peak Popularity Before Declining

GamesRadar compared Wardogs’ situation to ARC Raiders, which also saw peak player numbers before gradually declining, leaving behind a smaller but still active core community. For Wardogs, the development team has already anticipated that some players may leave due to update pace or new content not meeting expectations. This kind of popularity decline doesn’t necessarily mean the game has failed, but maintaining player engagement is definitely the challenge ahead.

Making a Good Game Matters More Than Anything!

Bulkhead has currently prioritized balance adjustments, and will continue to balance between update speed, content quality, and development resources. Players want new content constantly, but teams can’t work overtime infinitely. For Wardogs, the real challenge probably isn’t attracting players — it’s keeping them around until the official release.
