While Nintendo’s September Direct packed plenty of Switch 2 releases, Kotaku noticed some third-party ports are facing awkward performance issues. The LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Knight preview shows obvious stuttering, especially when large amounts of LEGO pieces appear simultaneously – the frame rate seems to simply not hold up.
Another title called out is Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, a large medieval RPG already packed with NPCs, quests, and various simulation systems. The Switch 2 version’s brief preview also caught players noticing unstable frame rates. Additionally, The Ascent and Hell Is Us footage on Switch 2 has been criticized for being blurry and stuttering.
Kotaku acknowledges the Switch 2 is definitely stronger than the original Switch, but performance still lags behind PS5 and Xbox Series X. The issues start showing up when games feature large open worlds, complex environments, and simultaneously pack in lots of objects and systems – the Switch 2 seems to start gasping.
Not all ports are failing though – the Switch 2 previews for Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 remakes look pretty solid. But as PS6-era games become increasingly demanding, whether the Switch 2 will replay the original Switch’s later days of “can port, but graphics need discounts first” might be Nintendo’s real headache.
