A brand new 3D Mario game from Nintendo is making waves in the rumor mill. Leaker Malo932 reports that the new title is targeting a 2027 release. If true, this would be the first major 3D Mario title since Super Mario Odyssey — marking the series’ first proper 3D entry in years. It could also become the first 3D Mario game for the Switch 2 generation. However, the game title, development team, and specific release date have yet to be officially announced.
Nintendo Direct Coming September 9th
Conveniently, Nintendo is hosting a Nintendo Direct on September 9th, leading many to speculate whether the new 3D Mario might make an appearance. Malo932 previously leaked this Direct announcement ahead of time, lending some credibility to this latest report. However, the leaker only states the game is “planned for 2027” — not that it will definitely be revealed on September 9th. So maybe don’t pop the champagne just yet.

If It Drops, The Timing Could Mirror Odyssey
Super Mario Odyssey was first revealed in October 2016 and released in October 2017. If Nintendo follows the same “reveal one year, release the next” pattern, a 2027 release for the new 3D Mario certainly fits. But this is just speculation based on previous marketing cycles — not a confirmed release month from the leaker, and definitely not a locked-in schedule from Nintendo.
