Konami Wants Silent Hill to Release a New Game Every Year Starting Now

Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto recently revealed that Konami hopes to maintain a pace of releasing one new game every year, including both announced titles and yet-to-be-revealed projects. Okamoto stated that the series has “gotten back on track” after the Silent Hill 2 remake and Silent Hill f, and the company wants to keep player attention focused on this horror IP consistently.

From a Decade of Nothing to One Game Per Year?

This shift is certainly dramatic. The Silent Hill series went years without a proper new entry, with Silent Hill 2 Remake launching in 2024 and Silent Hill f in 2025. Now projects like Silent Hill: Townfall are in development. Konami clearly doesn’t want this IP to go quiet again and hopes to deliver fresh content annually.

Can Horror Games Be Annual Releases?

Okamoto himself acknowledged that it’s too early to say how achievable this goal really is, noting that “one game per year” is currently more of an ideal direction for the company rather than a set release schedule. After all, much of Silent Hill’s charm comes from its oppressive atmosphere, psychological horror, and diverse worldviews across different entries. If they really start releasing a new one every year, players might eventually get desensitized to “here comes this year’s Silent Hill again” instead of being terrified.

Konami Really Wants to Heat Up This IP

Currently, Konami’s Silent Hill: Townfall is scheduled for September 24, 2026, marking the series’ first first-person perspective, shifting the setting from the familiar American town to St. Amelia in Scotland. With different teams, different regions, and different styles joining the franchise, Silent Hill could indeed become a more frequently releasing horror IP in the future. It’s just that going from “wait a decade for one game” to “one game per year” is quite a sudden acceleration.
