“The Witcher” multiplayer game is in trouble again! Sirius plans to lay off 18 people for the second time, but the release date is still missing

CD Projekt RED’s multiplayer spin-off “The Witcher” series “Project Sirius” once again reported layoffs. According to reports from Kotaku and Eurogamer, CD Projekt RED has recently made a new round of personnel adjustments to the project team. This is another major personnel change after the project is restarted in 2023.

18 people were adjusted and the team shrank directly!

A total of 9 positions were eliminated this time, and another 9 developers were transferred to other projects in the company. Affected include CD Projekt RED teams in Boston and Warsaw. According to the data, as of April 30 this year, Project Sirius originally had 83 developers, but now there are only about 65 people left after adjustments, which is equivalent to a reduction of more than 20% of the manpower at one time.

No cancellation has been announced, but the future is still foggy.

Project Sirius was first announced in 2022. It is a work based on the world view of “The Witcher” and includes both single-player and multi-player cooperative gameplay. However, after restarting in 2023 and now downsizing again, the release time is naturally further away. CD Projekt RED has not yet announced the cancellation of the project, only saying that it will adjust the size of the team, so players can probably be sure of only one thing now: this multiplayer game is still there, but no one dares to say when it will be released.

There are still a lot of things to be busy with now

In addition to Project Sirius, CD Projekt RED is currently advancing projects such as “The Witcher 4”, the sequel to “Cyberpunk 2077”, and the original remake of “The Witcher”. It seems that CDPR does have a lot of cards, but the “Sirius Project” card has been reshuffled twice, and players may have to continue to wait.
