Insomniac Games recently launched a free update for “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2/Marvel Spider-Man 2”, adding two sets of Peter Parker suits, one of which is from “Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls” and adopts a design with comic rendering (Cel Shading) style. However, this new set of looks, which were originally full of concepts, unexpectedly attracted many players to complain after its launch. Some people even bluntly said that it looked like “cheap CGI”, and someone else laughed and said: “It reminds me of “Spy Kids”.”
The concept is cool, but the actual results disappoint players.
This new suit focuses on the comic style and hopes to reproduce the art features of “Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls”. However, after actually wearing it, many players felt that the shadow and rendering effects were not natural enough, and the character seemed like an incomplete model.

Many players in the community have compared works such as “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and believe that if they want to follow a comic style, there is still a lot of room for improvement.

Some people dislike it, while others think it’s just a matter of style.
Although there are many criticisms, some players believe that this suit is deliberately pursuing a special art style and should not be evaluated based on realistic standards. Moreover, free updates can add new shapes, which is worthy of recognition in itself. In addition to the new suit, this update also adds features such as the Fresh Start Suit inspired by “Spider-Man: Brand New Day”, as well as PS5 Pro’s Enhanced PSSR support and power saving mode.
