PICO PARK Classic Edition Mistakenly Made Free Permanently, Now Being Removed From Steam

Another case of developers not expecting this to happen has appeared on Steam. PICO PARK Classic Edition was originally meant to be a temporary free promotion, but due to an error it became permanently free. Now the developer Tecopark has announced: the version is getting removed from the store!

Free Became Permanent Benefit, Then the Developer Panicked

The incident started simply enough, the team only wanted Classic Edition free briefly to drive traffic to the entire PICO PARK series. But one misconfiguration directly made the game permanently free. The developers even joked at the time, there is no going back now, but now it truly cannot be undone. Even more awkward, this free version attracted a wave of new players, with Steam concurrent users spiking instantly. This typically co-op puzzle game suddenly became a social disaster site everyone was arguing about who was dragging behind progress.

Now Being Removed, But Players Who Downloaded Can Still Play

According to the latest announcement, PICO PARK: Classic Edition will be removed from the Steam store. However, players who already downloaded or added it to their library can still play and host multiplayer sessions. Since the game uses P2P architecture, it does not rely heavily on servers, so there will not be a sudden unable-to-play situation.
