How popular is “Palworld”? The developer revealed that “people come to discuss cooperation almost every day”!

The cooperation invitation for “Palworld (Palworld)” has recently become a topic of discussion. John “Bucky” Buckley, head of publishing and communications at Pocketpair, revealed that the outside world has actually underestimated how many companies have tried to cooperate with “Palworld”, and many proposals were ultimately rejected by the team. The reason is not that the other party’s IP is not big enough, but that if the cooperative content cannot be naturally integrated into this survival game, Pocketpair would rather not have it.

It turns out that “Palworld” is not particularly difficult to get an appointment with

Buckley further stated that he believes that this is not unique to “Palworld”. Now, almost all popular games will continue to receive cooperation invitations. In other words, the survival rule in today’s gaming industry has become “if you are famous, someone will knock on the door.” As for whether you can get in, it depends on whether the developer is willing to open it.

“Palworld” has currently cooperated with “Terraria”, “ULTRAKILL” and other works. Pocketpair has also revealed that if the content can be reasonably integrated into the game, they are not exclusive of cooperation with more survival games. It’s just that rather than simply stuffing the characters in and taking a group photo, the team cares more about whether the cooperative content is fun.

Not just any IP can be shoehorned into the world of Palu.

Buckley has emphasized in the past that Pocketpair is taking a “fun-first” direction. Therefore, even if the partner itself is well-known, as long as the world view and gameplay of “Palworld” appear to be abrupt, the team will still choose to give up. This also explains why the cooperation that players see may not be as intensive as expected, because in Pocketpair’s eyes, the more cooperation, the more successful it is, at least not for the sake of linkage.

Now it seems that the real exaggeration of “Palworld” may not be how many works it has collaborated with, but that there are a lot of cooperation projects behind it that have been rejected or even abandoned halfway. What players see every day is Palu fighting monsters and building houses in the world. What Pocketpair handles behind the scenes may be a row of “Sorry, this is not suitable” cooperation emails.
