The indie game scene has another inspiring story! German team Mumpitz Games, consisting of only 2 developers, took just 4 months to complete the tower defense game “Sir, We Have an Orc Problem.” Remarkably, within just 24 hours of launch, the game already generated $360,000 in revenue (approximately NT$10.8 million/HK$2.82 million/MYR1.54 million), while also climbing to #15 on Steam’s best-selling games chart. Even the developers themselves said: “This is still a bit hard to believe.”
Simple Gameplay Accidentally Goes Viral — Two-Person Team Creates Career-Defining Work!
“Sir, We Have an Orc Problem” is a classic tower defense game where players need to build, defend, and upgrade various defensive structures to repel waves of orc armies.

GamesRadar pointed out that it’s precisely this “simple but addictive” gameplay, combined with a reasonable price point and fast pace, that attracted a large number of players to purchase the game upon release, quickly pushing it into the top tier of Steam’s best-selling chart.

Proving Small Teams Can Succeed Too
The development team shared that they originally just wanted to create something fun, never expecting such impressive results on launch day. In recent years, Steam has seen multiple indie game success stories like “Meccha Chameleon,” and now “Sir, We Have an Orc Problem” once again proves that even without a huge budget or hundreds of team members, interesting creative ideas can still find success in the competitive Steam market.
