Shape your sushi, send it to race, and pray it doesn’t get picked up and eaten by customers along the way—that’s the core gameplay of Wabisabi SushiDerby. This adorable sushi-raising racing game has officially launched on Nintendo Switch and Steam, with launch discounts available on both platforms—10% off for a limited time.
Sushi Isn’t for Eating—It’s for Training and Racing?!
Players take on the role of a sushi master, crafting sushi from various ingredients and training them to compete in different racing events. Different toppings don’t just affect stats—each sushi has unique skills like sprinting and dodging. During races, players can only “cheer” to boost their sushi—simple in concept, but it actually requires solid strategy.

Even more interestingly, sushi has a “shelf life”—each piece can only participate in a limited number of races. If a sushi gets picked up by giant chopsticks or eaten by a customer during a race, it’s eliminated for good. This wholesome-yet-brutal mechanic has become the game’s most distinctive feature.

Players Are Already Getting Hooked
Wabisabi SushiDerby won the BitSummit Kids Award last year, and now that it’s officially released, media outlets believe that while the game isn’t huge in scale, its charming art style and relaxed gameplay make it a strong candidate for a casual hit.

If you think this is just an adorable sushi game, you might be underestimating it. After all, not every day do you get to cheer for your salmon sushi while watching it get picked up for dinner.
