Edison Motors stated in the announcement that after evaluating the large number of employees’ leave applications, productivity forecasts, and the company-wide expectations, it determined that normal operations would not be possible on the day of the launch. The announcement even humorously stated that many employees had notified their supervisors in advance that they would “lost contact” by then, or were busy traveling to Sin City to conduct “important research.” Rather than having only a few people left in the entire company, it would be better to simply announce a two-day shutdown and wait until everyone has had enough fun before returning to work.
