Final Fantasy VII’s Final Chapter Won’t Be Multiple Choice! Director Confirms Single Ending

Since Final Fantasy VII Revelation was officially revealed at Summer Game Fest, the single question on players’ minds has been: can we finally change fate? From Final Fantasy VII Remake to Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Square Enix built everything around the theme of breaking destiny—so what gives?

Story Changes, But Don’t Expect Multiple Endings!

Director Naoki Hamaguchi recently gave a clear answer in an interview. He confirmed Final Fantasy VII Revelation does include a player choice system—different choices affect character stories, cutscene presentations, and experienced content. In other words, each player’s journey to the final battle might see different character development and emotional buildups.

So What Were All Those Parallel Worlds For?

But when it comes to the most sensitive ending question, Hamaguchi was crystal clear. He emphasized there won’t be multiple endings—the entire FF7 Remake trilogy will have only ONE official ending. Player choices will change the journey, but not the destination.

Square Enix Finally Giving Answers!

The news instantly blew up the community. The past two games constantly emphasized “breaking fate,” “unknown journeys,” and various parallel world setups, making many believe Square Enix was setting up for different endings. Now the sudden announcement of a single ending has left some feeling let down. However, many longtime fans think this is actually a good thing. As one of the series’ most iconic titles, if they actually made it a branching ending, it might have caused even bigger controversy. From currently revealed info, Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be the final chapter of the remake trilogy, launching in Spring 2027 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The team has emphasized multiple times this will be a definitive and complete ending, not leaving more question marks. But for many players, the biggest suspense isn’t whether there are multiple endings—it’s how Square Enix will finally wrap up all those parallel world and fate setups they’ve been building for seven years.
