Nintendo’s decade-old Star Fox is finally moving again. According to the latest revelations, Switch 2 will launch a new work in 2026, and the direction may change dramatically, no longer just flying shooting, but enhancing the plot and character performance. The last in the series, Star Fox Zero, is already 2016, and there’s almost nothing really new in between. For many players, this IP has long been stuck in memory, but now it looks like Nintendo is ready to reboot.

According to industry sources, the new game will be “very funny”, and the key behind this sentence is that the game will focus on dialogue, character interaction and plot performance, rather than just a few lines on the communication screen as in the past.
In the past Star Fox, the story basically relied on teammates to interject in the communication, such as the classic “Do a barrel roll”. Although these clips have memory points, the overall narrative is actually very lightweight. If the story is really reinforced this time, it means that the whole series is moving closer to a full narrative game.
