No Game Disc, But Music Disc? GTA 6 Physical Collector’s Edition Leaves Players Baffled

Grand Theft Auto VI is launching on November 19th, but if you want to collect a physical game disc, you’re out of luck. Rockstar has confirmed the physical version will be a “box with a download code”—no game disc included. Now, at this exact moment, Rockstar announced that Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album will release on CD and vinyl, with timing that has everyone raising an eyebrow.

No Game Disc for You, But Here’s 34 Tracks of Original Soundtrack?

Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album features 34 brand new songs, with artists including Travis Scott, Rauw Alejandro, Morgan Wallen, and Keith Richards. Six singles have already been released. Players can choose between the dual CD version for $20 or the dual transparent vinyl for $50. The soundtrack will also be available on all major streaming platforms.

Premium Vinyl Collection

If regular CDs aren’t collectible enough, Rockstar also prepared a limited premium vinyl for $125. This set includes two transparent magenta vinyl records with blue liquid effects inside, along with exclusive cover art and packaging design.

Players have been quick to point out the irony: you can pre-order an elaborate music collection, but the game itself comes as a download code. It’s an unusual decision in an era where many collectors still value physical media for games themselves.
