Already Gone Gold And Still Delayed? Rayman Legends Retold Suddenly Pushed Back, Players: So What Was the Point of Going Gold?

Rayman Legends Retold was originally scheduled for an October 1 release, but Ubisoft announced less than a month before launch that the game—despite being officially “Gone Gold”—would be delayed to December 3, 2026. The official reason stated they wanted more time to polish the details and ensure every aspect meets the team’s expectations.

Rare Move: Delaying After Going Gold

Historically, “Gone Gold” meant the game had reached its final version and was ready for disc manufacturing. However, with digital updates and day-one patches now standard, the term’s meaning has changed. GamesRadar also noted the game box even states “internet required for installation”—so how “Gold” can it really be?

October Release Date Too Crowded, Rayman Dodges?

The original early October release window was absolutely brutal, with numerous titles like Marvel’s Wolverine, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Silent Hill: Townfall, and Control Resonant all crammed nearby. GamesRadar pointed out that even fans of 2D platformers would struggle to find time for Rayman Legends Retold amidst such a competitive lineup.

Following the delay, Rayman Legends Retold will launch on December 3, landing after GTA 6’s November 19 release. Ubisoft’s official reason was needing more time to polish—not directly acknowledging the need to avoid other major releases—but the adjustment does give Rayman a less crowded December window instead of the intensely competitive October landscape.
