Final Fantasy VII Revelation is set to launch on April 8, 2027 as the final chapter of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy. Square Enix producer and director Yoshinori Kitase shared that the team has invested significant time and effort, hoping to make the final installment something they can be proud of—confidently stating that the remake series will conclude with Revelation.
They Thought It Was Done, Then Fans Demanded More
Kitase referenced the original 1997 Final Fantasy VII as an example. Back then, the team also thought the game was complete and could move on, but fan enthusiasm for characters like Cloud and Sephiroth led to numerous spinoffs like Advent Children and Crisis Core. In other words, Square Enix knows well: if fans are passionate enough, “the end” might not last long.

The Trilogy Ends, But Spinoff Possibilities Remain
While Kitase calls Revelation the series finale, he hasn’t completely ruled out future content. He mentioned it ultimately depends on player reaction to the game and its ending—if fans still want more, spinoffs could be considered. So what truly ends is the remake trilogy itself, not necessarily the FF7 IP.

Is Square Enix Finally Done With FF7?
Revelation is already described as one of the largest entries in the trilogy, and the first two games combined are substantial. GamesRadar estimates the entire remake trilogy could require at least 150 hours to complete. Now that Square Enix is finally saying “end,” players’ biggest concern isn’t lacking a sequel—it’s finding time to finish all three games.
