The long-awaited Onimusha series is finally making its return, and the first wave of media reviews for Onimusha: Way of the Sword has dropped. Capcom has delivered another knockout punch. The PS5 version currently holds an 86 on Metacritic with 66 reviews in. The PC version sits at 82. While Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 reviews are still coming in, the early response has been overwhelmingly positive.

What’s even more ridiculous is that Onimusha: Way of the Sword isn’t even Capcom’s first critically acclaimed title this year. GamesRadar has dubbed it Capcom’s fourth major win of the year, noting that Onimusha’s scores have already surpassed the company’s other new IP PRAGMATA. Looking at Capcom’s lineup this year, the company is on an unprecedented streak — from Resident Evil Requiem to Monster Hunter Stories 3, to PRAGMATA, and now even the returning Onimusha series has landed great reviews.
