ASMR in Games? Onimusha: Way of the Sword’s Latest Trailer Has No Combat, Just Ambient Sounds!

Capcom has unveiled a brand new ASMR-style trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword — and this time, there’s no intense combat showcase. Instead, protagonist Miyamoto Musashi takes players on a leisurely tour of the game environments, focusing entirely on ambient sounds and atmosphere. From footsteps to wind and environmental details, the entire video feels more like an immersive stroll through feudal Japan. Even the marketing is telling players to put on headphones and relax.

So Quiet There Aren’t Even Enemies — The Environments Take Center Stage!

The trailer primarily showcases three locations: Yasui Kinkō Shrine, the Oni’s Refuge, and Rokuchō Shinchōji. This is a far cry from previous trailers that emphasized combat, slashing, and action sequences. The development team deliberately set combat aside, instead using detailed environmental audio to present the game’s historical Japanese atmosphere — while also giving players a glimpse of just how intricate the game world has become.

September 4 — Time to Start Slashing

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled to launch on September 4, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox Series X|S, with full Chinese language support. Pre-orders and a free demo are already available. With launch just around the corner, Capcom is letting players experience the game’s atmosphere before cutting down any demons — showing they know how to market an action game as a “bedtime relaxation experience.”
