Was it the real RE3 back then? “Resident Evil Veronica” finally has its chance to turn around!

When Capcom officially released “Resident Evil Veronica”, many veteran players had almost the same reaction: “It’s finally its turn!”

The reason is simple. Although “Resident Evil 3 Nemesis” received an official number, in the eyes of many old fans of the series, “Resident Evil Code: Veronica” was actually more like the true sequel to “Resident Evil 2 (Resident Evil 2)”. The story directly continues Claire Redfield’s search for her brother Chris, and is the first time the series has significantly expanded the Umbrella Corporation’s global storyline.

An important chapter forgotten for 25 years

“Code: Veronica” first launched on the Dreamcast in 2000, and was the first work in the series to be launched outside the PlayStation platform. The game is set three months after the incident in Laquan City. Claire was captured by Umbrella Corporation and sent to Rockfort Island, where she was later involved in another biological disaster. The important stories of Chris Redfield, Albert Wesker and the Ashford family also begin here.

It’s just that over the years, Capcom has successively remade “Resident Evil 2”, “Resident Evil 3” and “Resident Evil 4”, but always skipped this key work, which also made many players complain that “Code: Veronica” is like the forgotten child in the series.

Now that we are remaking it, the time is actually just right!

Many media believe that “Code: Veronica” may be one of the “Resident Evil” works that needs to be remade most currently. In addition to the fact that the operation and system have obviously failed to keep up with modern standards, the original plot actually connects the important blank space between “Resident Evil 2” and “Resident Evil 4”. Judging from the current public information, the new version of “Resident Evil Veronica” will focus on Claire and adopt a third-person gameplay similar to “Resident Evil 2 Remake”. Although the trailer deliberately uses a first-person lens to mislead players, the official has confirmed that the official version will be a complete third-person work.

For many veterans, this is not just another remake, but more like Capcom finally filling in a missing piece of the series’ history. After all, some games are remaking classics, and some games are making up for a job owed to players more than 20 years ago.
