Sony is at it again. Officially announced that starting from April 2, 2026, the prices of all PS5 devices will be increased in multiple markets, including the United States, Europe, the United Kingdom and Japan. The reason is still the universal saying “the global economic environment continues to bring pressure”, that is, no matter how costs, exchange rates, and profits are calculated, players will ultimately foot the bill.
United States: Increase in everything, Portal has the highest increase
This wave in the United States is the simplest and crudest. The new price of the standard version of PS5 is US$649.99, and the digital version of PS5 Digital Edition is US$599.99. The most exciting thing is that the PS5 Pro is directly priced at US$899.99, and the PlayStation Portal is also priced at US$249.99.
From the amplitude modulation point of view, PS5 +US$100 (+18.18%), digital version +US$100 (+20%), PS5 Pro +US$150 (+20%), Portal +US$50 (+25%). If the console can still rise like this in the middle and later stages, Sony is really confident.
Europe, the United Kingdom, and Japan: also increased, the only difference is the currency symbol
The new European RRPs are: PS5 €649.99, digital version €599.99, PS5 Pro €899.99, and Portal €249.99. In the UK: PS5 £569.99, digital version £519.99, PS5 Pro £789.99, Portal £219.99. Japan is also on the price adjustment list, but the screenshot does not give a specific yen figure.
Actually it’s not the first time, Sony is just more skilled
This isn’t the first time Sony has raised prices for the PS5 generation, either. The screenshot mentioned that Sony had already raised the US price once in August 2025, and also raised the PS5 Digital Edition in Europe and the UK in April 2025. Now doing it again, it can only be said that Sony seems to be very confident in the loyalty of players.
For Southeast Asia’s gaming audience, this story matters beyond headlines: it highlights how platform decisions, creator behavior, and player trust can reshape market momentum across the region’s highly connected communities.
