This one-minute short video shows the full view of the new machine and reveals several key upgrades, such as the replaceable front panel, which contains the “X68000 Super” and “X68000 XVI” logos. In addition, compared to the previous generation X68000 Z, this new machine also has several additional interfaces, including:
- SCSI port (for external storage devices)
- MIDI IN, OUT and OUT/THRU (for music production players)
- Corresponds to old joysticks and accessories (retro gamers are ecstatic!)

If you are not familiar with this series, the X68000 Z was first released in October 2022. This mini computer is a scaled-down replica of Sharp’s classic home computer X68000 (released in 1987). It was originally only available for purchase by supporters of the Kibidango crowdfunding platform. It was not officially opened to more players until the “X68000 Z Black Edition” was launched in September 2023.
Ashley Day, editor of the famous retro game website “Time Extension”, once reviewed this retro machine. He described it as “expensive and more complicated to set up than an ordinary mini game console.” However, he also believed that “compared to collecting an original X68000, this is still a more economical and simpler option.” Therefore, whether this revision of “X68000 Z 2” can make the overall experience more intuitive and user-friendly has become the focus of greatest concern among players!
