American version of the nostalgic NES “hands: down” style returns! AceMagic Retro X5 is launched with Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and is gaining traction fast, and early community reaction suggests this one has real momentum.
As with major stories across retro and modern gaming, the key details are in how players are responding, how the platform owners move next, and whether this remains a short spike or a longer trend.

In an era when mini PCs are getting smaller and smaller, but their performance is getting stronger and stronger, some manufacturers have begun to play the emotional card. AceMagic recently officially launched the Retro X5 mini PC. The overall appearance is obviously a tribute to the classic NES (NES, the overseas version of the Nintendo Famicom), but the internal hardware is completely modern, that is, the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 processor plus the Radeon 890M core display!
This machine is currently available on Amazon in the United States, with an official listing price of $1,049. Converted according to the current exchange rate, it is approximately NT$33,000 / HKD approximately 8,200 / RM approximately 4,950. The official also launched a limited-time listing promotion, which will last until March 31, 2026.
NES is just an appearance, it’s actually an AI PC inside

At the heart of the Retro X5 is AMD’s next-generation Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU. This processor uses 4 Zen 5 + 8 Zen 5c core designs, with a total of 12 cores and 24 threads, with a maximum clock speed of 5.1GHz. The overall positioning is actually similar to a high-end laptop platform, but now it is stuffed into a small NES-shaped box.
The graphics part integrates Radeon 890M, uses RDNA 3.5 architecture, and has 16 Compute Units. For mini PCs, this core display already belongs to AMD’s most powerful integrated GPU level. Simply put, if you just run emulators, Steam games or even some 3A games, it won’t be a big problem.
In addition, this APU also integrates XDNA 2 NPU, with AI computing power up to 50 TOPS. This also means that Retro X5 is not just a retro-style entertainment machine, it also targets the AI PC market.
Memory, Storage and Expansion: Standard Mini PC Form Factor
The standard configuration provided by AceMagic is 32GB DDR5 memory and 1TB M.2 2280 SSD. Official information shows that the system supports DDR5-5600 and can be upgraded to 128GB. In terms of storage, it provides two M.2 2280 slots, which can support up to 4TB capacity.
Although it looks retro, the connectivity specs are all modern standards, including DisplayPort 2.0, HDMI 2.1, USB4 Type-C, USB 3.2 Type-C, and multiple USB Type-A. The network part supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and dual 2.5GbE LAN. Officials also stated that the system can support four-screen output for multi-tasking or gaming environments.

To put it simply, the only retro thing about this machine is probably the shell.
Emotional design: NES players can understand it at a glance
The biggest selling point of the Retro X5 remains its looks. The overall design is almost a reduction and reinterpretation of the NES console, including gray and white color matching, cassette style elements and a red power button. For old players, this design does feel like “you want to turn it on when you see it”.
Of course, these products are essentially mini PCs, not game consoles. But if you are the kind of person who misses the Famicom era while running emulators, this machine is obviously prepared for that group of people.
