Capcom released a number of demos after last week’s direct meeting with Nintendo partners, including “Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection.” This new “Monster Hunter” spin-off is now available for download on the eShop, and the latest screen comparison video also puts the power gap between the three major platforms directly under the microscope!

The YouTube channel ElAnalistaDeBits released a screen comparison of the demo versions of Switch 2, Xbox Series S, and PS5. Everything from resolution, frame rate to stability was compared one by one. The results were expected, but there are also several interesting aspects.

The lowest resolution, the frame rate is around 30fps

Judging from the current test results, the Switch 2 version has the lowest resolution among the three platforms, and the frame rate is in an unlocked form, hovering around 30fps most of the time.

This is not unexpected for a portable host, after all, the performance positioning is there. However, in comparison, the picture clarity is naturally the most outstanding in the PS5 version, and the Series S is in the middle.

But what’s interesting is that the Switch 2 isn’t lagging behind across the board.

Dock mode is more stable, but handheld mode tends to drop frames

The video points out that in Dock mode, the Switch 2 version is even more stable than the Xbox Series S, and the overall performance is quite stable.

On the contrary, in handheld mode, the frame rate is easier to fall below 30fps, especially in scenes with more complex images. This is actually reasonable, because the power consumption and performance restrictions in portable mode are inherently stricter.

Overall, the Switch 2 version wins based on stability, rather than purely pursuing image quality.

The trial version does not represent the final quality

It should be noted that this is only a demo version, and the graphics, performance, and optimization may continue to be adjusted, and the final official version may have the opportunity to be even better.

Currently, the Switch 2 demo version can be downloaded directly from the eShop, and Capcom has also confirmed that players’ saves in the demo can be carried over to the official version.

“Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection” is expected to be officially launched on March 13, 2026. For players who like the RPG style “Monster Hunter”, they can try it out now.
