Since its announcement, PHYSINT has been compared to Metal Gear – after all, it’s Hideo Kojima returning to the “action + spy” genre. But Kojima himself is hitting the brakes. In his latest “KOJI10” episode, he confirmed PHYSINT is a spy-themed game, but wants to inject plenty of fresh ideas to create “a different kind of spy action”, describing the game as “very different” from Metal Gear.
Bill Skarsgård is ready to go, but Kojima won’t give him the script yet!
The story for PHYSINT is already complete, and Kojima revealed that lead actor Bill Skarsgård’s character scans are also done. But filming won’t start until next year, and Skarsgård seems impatient – he’s been constantly asking Kojima when he can get the script to study how his character should speak and act. Typical Kojima response: “Wait!” Because right now only the story outline is done – full dialogue and script are still being worked on.

The cast is pretty impressive too
Beyond Bill Skarsgård, PHYSINT’s announced cast includes Charlee Fraser, Don Lee, and Minami Hamabe. Kojima specifically mentioned the chemistry between Skarsgård and Fraser is crucial, so the team has already done camera tests. But the recently released photo of them together isn’t the final game costume either – those clothes were mainly for testing fabric wrinkles, belt creases, and lighting effects. The final look could be completely different.

Sony dropped out – now Xbox is taking over!
Even more interesting: PHYSINT’s development recently hit a major turning point. After Sony dropped the project this year, Xbox immediately took over publishing duties – this game that was once seen as a major PlayStation-Kojima collaboration has a new home. Xbox and Kojima Productions have officially confirmed their partnership and will continue pushing PHYSINT forward. As for how the game will put a fresh spin on “spy action,” Kojima still hasn’t revealed any actual gameplay details – looks like players will have to keep waiting.
