With digital versions about to become a thing of the past, the secondhand collector’s market has exploded. Multiple PS3 exclusive physical games have skyrocketed in price over just a few weeks — some jumping from tens of dollars to nearly 4 times their original value, leaving many players saying: “I thought they were too expensive before — now I really can’t afford them.”
Store Closes = Rare Games Turn to Gold?
Reports indicate the most dramatic price increases are hitting PS3 exclusives with low print runs, no remasters, and no ports to newer platforms. Puppeteer saw the most extreme surge — complete physical copies that once sold for $60-$70 now routinely sell for over $200 on eBay, with some listings approaching $300.
Another PS3 exclusive RPG, Folklore, jumped from around $40-$50 to $120-$150. 3D Dot Game Heroes and other titles are also seeing their collectible value climb as demand heats up.
The Collecting Frenzy Is Just Beginning
Analysts say it’s not all PS3 games seeing price hikes — it’s specifically those with low supply, difficult-to-remaster designs, and no future availability on other platforms. While some games are still available through the PS3 digital store (at prices far below physical copies), the confirmed store shutdown is prompting more collectors to grab physical discs.
