“GTA 6” PS5 sold out of Xbox? Xbox personally slapped the online numbers in one sentence!

After “Grand Theft Auto VI” opened for pre-order, various sales data began to spread wildly on the Internet. The one that attracted the most attention was a piece of data that claimed that the pre-order volume of the PS5 version crushed the Xbox version “8 to 1”, causing many players to ask: “Has Xbox completely lost?” However, Microsoft quickly came forward to pour cold water. According to reports from Kotaku and Windows Central, Xbox officials stated that the data circulated by the outside world does not represent the true pre-order sales, and called on players to wait for the official sales data to be released instead of drawing conclusions based on a single source.

The so-called “8 to 1” is actually not sales volume!

The starting point of this dispute comes from data from IGN’s e-commerce affiliate (Affiliate). Since data shows that most players who purchased “GTA 6” through IGN-related links chose the PS5 version, many media and netizens interpreted it as “PS5 pre-order sales are 8 times that of Xbox.” However, Microsoft pointed out that this kind of data only reflects the clicks or purchases of a certain website’s affiliate links, and does not represent the actual sales of the entire market, nor can it directly predict the pre-order performance of all platforms. In other words, this number is more like “how much a certain store sold today” rather than how much was sold in the entire market.

Xbox: Our pre-orders actually set a new record

What’s even more interesting is that Microsoft did not deny that PS5 may sell more! The official only emphasized that no organization has released complete sales data, so all external conclusions are only speculation. At the same time, Microsoft also revealed that “GTA 6” has set one of the highest pre-order records in the history of the Xbox platform, and the overall performance is quite strong. In fact, judging from the global console ownership, PS5 already has a large installed base. In addition, Sony and Rockstar have maintained a long-term close cooperative relationship. Therefore, many analysts believe that even if PS5 sales lead in the future, it is not surprising.

The real answer will have to wait until Rockstar announces it!

At present, the two camps are already quarreling over a piece of data. Some people think that PS5 has a greater chance of winning, while others think it is too early to discuss sales. After all, neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has announced any official pre-order figures, and most of the statistics circulating on the market are only partial statistics. It can only be said that “GTA 6” is still some time away from its official release. Players have already started another war, and this time it is not Jason or Lucia, but PS5 and Xbox players.
