Cowboy Stardew Valley Arrives This August on PS and Xbox

Stardew Valley has been the go-to farm sim for years—but there’s a new sheriff in town. Media outlets are calling Cattle Country the 「Western cowboy version of Stardew Valley」, and it’s expanding its reach. According to GamesRadar, the game from former Fable developers is coming to PlayStation and Xbox this August. It previously launched on PC and already attracted plenty of fans with its laid-back farming and frontier wilderness theme.

Farming, Ranching, and Romance Included

Cattle Country brings plenty of familiar elements players know from other life sims. You’ll start in a growing frontier town, running a ranch and caring for livestock while building your own cowboy life. Beyond crops and animals, the game includes mining, fishing, exploration, and character interactions. And yes, romance is on the table too—you can befriend townsfolk, start relationships, and even start a family. It feels tailor-made for Stardew Valley fans, just with an American frontier twist instead of the traditional countryside.

Made by Former Fable Developers

Beyond the theme, the dev team is drawing attention. Former Fable series developers worked on Cattle Country, which has raised expectations for character interactions and town atmosphere. While it’s not a massive AAA project, players who tried the PC version praise its relaxed, comfortable pacing. For players who enjoy slow-burn management and daily farm routines, these games tend to hook for hundreds of hours—much more than action-heavy blockbusters.

Farm Sim Market Keeps Growing

Even though Stardew Valley has been out for over a decade, the farm simulation market keeps expanding. From Story of Seasons to Coral Island and various indie entries, new challengers keep appearing. With Cattle Country adding Western cowboy elements, it’s carved out its own niche in a crowded market. Everyone’s done farming—but ranching, romance, and running a frontier town? That’s something fresh.
