Recently, Xbox announced they’re pushing Fable back from its original release window—and the real reason is starting to come to light.
Wanting Its Own Spotlight
According to studio head John Fulton, the team worked hard toward the original date, so the delay news was disappointing at first. But over time, they’ve started to see the silver lining: Fable will get its own moment to shine without being overshadowed.
Industry insiders widely believe the delay is largely tied to GTA 6. Xbox previously stated they wanted Fable to get its own attention window instead of being squeezed into what many are calling the “death slot” of late 2026. After all, Rockstar’s massive release isn’t the only juggernaut dropping around then.
