As an old player from the Famicom era, you may have some impressions of “Fist of the Flying Dragon”! The biggest feature of this game is the “Mind’s Eye System”: it’s not about throwing random punches, it’s about seeing whether you can hit the opponent’s weakness, and some opponents have to pick up tips to transform before you can actually use their moves. Plus, the BGM is really unforgettable! This collection includes “Fist of the Flying Dragon” (1987), “Fist of the Flying Dragon II: Dragon Wings” (1988), “Fist of the Flying Dragon III: Five Dragon Warriors” (1990), and the fighting version of “Fist of the Flying Dragon” SPECIAL (1991).
“Mind Eye System” is the biggest feature of this game
The game focuses on mixed fighting-style combat, and the gameplay spans combat combat, horizontal action and growth system, in fact, the depth is not low at all. The most recognizable design is the “mind-eye system” – you need to attack and defend against the target points displayed on the enemy, making the battle a more tactical interaction rather than simply being faster than who can press the key.
The story line revolves around the “resurrection of the big devil” and the old-school passionate routine of the evil organization trying to conquer the world. It is simple and crude but also very in line with the flavor of that era. It’s a pity that the Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 versions are not included, otherwise this collection would be more worth buying.
Only in Japanese, just as annoying as before
The only thing that can dissuade people is language. The Steam page states that it only supports Japanese, which is not friendly to players who want to understand the plot and items. But thinking about it on the other hand, many people who buy this kind of compilation are just to replenish their tickets and get nostalgic. Whether they can understand Japanese is the second priority. The real question is, are you willing to train your fingers back to the state they were in the past for four Famicom works?
