333 Lego bricks can restore the PSP handheld console 1:1, including the UMD tray and games!

If you loved the PSP as a kid, you can probably understand why this kind of creation can make your hands itch. PSP fan yakyah recently submitted a “LEGO PSP” concept work to LEGO Ideas, which features 333 bricks and almost 1:1 restoration of the appearance and details of the PSP-1000 (the first generation model released). It’s not just about making a shell, but using building blocks to build out the smooth and troublesome curves, button layouts and screen ratios of the PSP.

Direction keys, shoulder keys, function keys, 16:9 screen, even the side volume control and yellow charging hole are included.

This concept work captures all the characteristics of the PSP: the body shape, D-pad, shoulder buttons, action buttons, and 16:9 screen are all completely retained. Even the volume control on the side and the “little yellow charging hole” that has a very contemporary feel are also made. The creator also mentioned that he used a variety of beveled parts and smooth brick techniques to capture the PSP’s “simple-looking, but actually very difficult” appearance of the curve.

The most cruel thing is that it even has a detachable disc tray, which also contains a UMD of “PSP demo disc”. You can say this is an unnecessary detail, but in a place like LEGO Ideas, what everyone wants to see is how paranoid you really are.

Designed with the official Bricklink Studio, the internal structure is also complete

Yakyah said that this work was designed using Bricklink Studio (digital LEGO modeling platform), and deliberately avoided the so-called “illegal spelling”, that is, it did not rely on the collision of parts to force it, or it did not rely on physically impossible angles to hold it up. The overall structure was established within the rules, and the internal structure was complete. If you want to be officially considered, you must at least prove “energy production” first.

You must reach 10,000 supporters within 424 days to be eligible to be officially evaluated by LEGO

This project was launched on LEGO Ideas on April 1, 2026. It currently has only 514 backers and is still some way away from the next milestone of 1,000. To enter the process of becoming an official set candidate, the final goal is 10,000 backers and the deadline is 424 days.

However, the PSP is not a machine that relies on sales to win or lose. It was launched in Japan in 2004. It was the first time that Sony entered the handheld market with the PlayStation brand. It was eventually surpassed by Nintendo’s Nintendo DS in total sales (DS about 154 million units vs. PSP about 82 million units). However, PSP still left many classic works, and even allowed Sony to later launch the PlayStation Vita.
