Epic Games Store announces free games for March 12, with two works totaling about $45 is gaining traction fast, and early community reaction suggests this one has real momentum.
As with major stories across retro and modern gaming, the key details are in how players are responding, how the platform owners move next, and whether this remains a short spike or a longer trend.

Epic Games Store has once again updated its weekly free games list, and officials have confirmed that players can receive two PC games for free from March 12 to March 19 《Cozy Grove》 and 《Isonzo》. The original price of both pieces totaled about $45.
Epic’s strategy of giving away games every week has been going on for many years and has become one of the most familiar benefits for PC platform players. Although there are not AAA masterpieces every week, over a long period of time, many players’ Epic game libraries have been filled up.
World War I shooting “Isonzo” focuses on hardcore battlefields
One of the free games this time, “Isonzo”, is a multiplayer first-person shooter game set in World War I, developed by the Dutch studio BlackMill Games.
This work is actually the third part of the WW1 shooting trilogy. The first two games are “Verdun” and “Tannenberg”. Different from modern military shooting games, “Isonzo” focuses on a real historical battlefield experience, with weapons, tactics and equipment trying to restore the battlefield environment at that time.
As a result, the game is much slower paced than modern FPSs, with a greater emphasis on tactics and teamwork. This may take some getting used to for players who are used to the rapid-fire shooting of Call of Duty, but that’s exactly what makes it special.
“Isonzo” currently has an average score of 71 on OpenCritic, and has more than 7,600 “extremely positive” reviews on Steam.
“Cozy Grove” focuses on healing and exploration
Another free game 《Cozy Grove》 The style is completely opposite. This is a relaxing collection and exploration game, the gameplay is a bit like 《Animal Crossing》, the painting style is similar to 《Don’t Starve》 hand drawn style.
Players will camp on a mysterious island, explore the island through daily tasks, collect resources, make props, and help the ghost residents of the island solve the knots left by the past.
The game uses a real-time time system, and the content that can be completed every day is limited, so the rhythm is relatively relaxed. This work also has more than 3,400 “extremely positive” reviews on Steam, with an average OpenCritic score of 74.
It is worth mentioning that developer Spry Fox was acquired by Netflix in 2022, but returned to the founders in 2025. Therefore, this time Epic sent “Cozy Grove”, which is also considered to be promoting the future work “Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit”.
Turnip Boy Robs a Bank is still available this week
The Epic Games Store is still giving away new free games ahead of their launch on March 12 《Turnip Boy Robs a Bank》. This 2024 title is the sequel to Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion.
Different from the action-adventure gameplay of the previous game, the sequel becomes a top-down roguelite shooting game. Players will rob banks with the Pickled Gang, and each time they pass a level, they will obtain new resources to enhance their character’s abilities.
The game currently has an average score of 78 on OpenCritic, which is pretty good. If you haven’t claimed it yet, remember to add it to the game library before March 12th.
