NVIDIA driver fixes performance and frame drop issues in “Resident Evil Requiem”, GPU power consumption no longer fluctuates

NVIDIA driver fixes performance and frame drop issues in “Resident Evil Requiem”, GPU power consumption no longer fluctuates is gaining traction fast, and early community reaction suggests this one has real momentum.

As with major stories across retro and modern gaming, the key details are in how players are responding, how the platform owners move next, and whether this remains a short spike or a longer trend.

NVIDIA says that the performance degradation issue some players experienced in Resident Evil Requiem has now been fixed. Officials pointed out that affected players only need to update to GeForce Game Ready Driver 595.71 and restart their computers to apply the latest game settings and fixes.

This problem was initially reported by some GeForce players. Under the same settings, the game experienced FPS drops and abnormally low GPU power consumption, especially when Path Tracing was turned on. However, the media’s actual measurement results are inconsistent. For example, PC Gamer did not reproduce the situation of large frame drops in multiple sets of GPU and driver version tests, so it is speculated that the problem may only affect specific system configurations.

Fix via OTA update of game profiles

According to NVIDIA developer Sean Pelletier, the company has pushed new game profiles through OTA (Over-the-Air) to adjust the driver behavior of “Resident Evil Requiem”. This type of update does not require a complete driver reinstallation. Just restart the computer to force the new profile to apply.

NVIDIA has used this method to quickly fix certain game issues in the past, so some players no longer see performance degradation when retesting, most likely because the new profile has been automatically applied.

595.71 replaces problematic version 595.59

This repair of GeForce 595.71 is actually to replace the previous short-lived 595.59 driver version. 595.59 was removed from the shelves by NVIDIA shortly after its release because some GeForce graphics cards reported abnormal fan monitoring and control.

Therefore, 595.71 is currently considered the corrected official version, with optimizations for Resident Evil Requiem added. If players are still experiencing performance issues, NVIDIA recommends performing a clean install of the drivers and restarting the system to ensure that the latest configuration files are loaded correctly.

If you still have problems, try reinstalling the driver.

NVIDIA’s current official recommendation is still to use the GeForce 595.71 driver and download it through the NVIDIA App or official website. If you still have problems after updating, the most direct way is to reinstall the driver, restart the computer, and then retest with the same scenario and settings.

To put it simply, this problem seems more like a minor error in the driver profile rather than a major bug in the game itself. However, for players, as long as the frame rate can be brought back to normal levels, a simple repair method is not a bad thing.
