To celebrate the 15th anniversary of the NieR series, Square Enix has announced a partnership with NZXT to release a limited edition computer case. This product is based on the NZXT H5 Flow (2024 model), and uses the two representative characters of the series as the core design elements, focusing on fan collection positioning.

The overall appearance adopts a white main body. The tempered glass panel on the left is printed with the character Kane from “NieR Replicant”, and the metal panel on the right is 2B from “NieR: Automata”. The front panel is printed with the series’ 15th anniversary logo, which is highly visually recognizable. The case is priced at 31,680 yen in Japan, which is approximately NT$6,650, HK$1,740, and RM1,010, which is about twice the price of the standard H5 Flow.

What fans care about is not the case, but the sequel

However, after the product was announced, the focus of community discussion did not focus on the hardware specifications, but once again turned to the future trends of the series. Some fans believe that on the 15th anniversary, only peripheral products were launched, rather than news about new games or sequels, which makes people feel somewhat disappointed.

Especially since “NieR: Automata” was launched in 2017, its market performance and reputation have been quite impressive, and the outside world has long been looking forward to its official sequel. If this commemorative event is limited to hardware cooperation and product launches, it will inevitably give some players the impression that “only peripherals are available for the anniversary.”

Anniversary marketing strategy still not over yet?

Of course, there’s no official statement yet as to whether this is the end of the 15th anniversary event. In recent years, Square Enix has tended to announce its IP management plans in stages. It remains to be seen whether there will be new works, derivative projects or other forms of content in the future.

At least what is certain is that the brand influence of “NieR” is still solid. Being able to cooperate with hardware brands such as NZXT to launch high unit price limited products shows that the market foundation is still there. As for the news that fans really want to wait for, perhaps they need a little more patience.
