For many players, this is the update that should have happened years ago.
Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen are finally gaining a path into Pokémon HOME, bringing long-isolated Kanto-era progress into the modern stack.
It’s a practical feature, but emotionally it hits harder: a delayed bridge between formative handheld memories and today’s live Pokémon ecosystem.
If you have embarked on a journey to Kanto again in the Switch eShop, what you are most concerned about is probably – can these old friends from the GBA era be brought into the new generation? The answer is: yes! Pokémon officially confirmed that “Pokémon FireRed” and “Pokémon LeafGreen” will support Pokémon HOME. However, the support function will be added later through updates and will not be available immediately on the first day!
The feelings are there, and the migration channel is also added, great!
One-way transmission, if you transfer out, you can’t come back!
Although HOME compatibility is confirmed this time, the rules are clear – the transfer is “one-way”. In other words, Pokémon transferred from “FireRed” or “LeafGreen” to Pokémon HOME will not be able to be transferred back! You can go in, but you can’t come back!
For collectors or players who want to keep a pure Kanto team, this needs to be thought through first.
Where can I transfer to? Full support for new Switch and Switch 2 games

The good news is that once transferred to Pokémon HOME, your Pokémon can travel to other supported Switch and Switch 2 titles, including:
- 《Pokémon Scarlet》《Pokémon Violet》
- “Pokémon Legends: Z-A” (Supported soon)
- “Pokémon Champions” (currently a linked type)
In other words, the old Kanto team can finally officially go on a cross-generational expedition! For players who have played all the way from GBA to now, this sense of heritage is the core value!
I am so surprised

In fact, last week, the eShop page initially stated that Pokémon HOME was supported, but then the relevant instructions were suddenly removed, causing players to speculate whether the plan had changed. Now that the official confirmation of support has been delayed, the doubts have been clarified once and for all.
In other words, HOME isn’t canceled, it’s just not ready yet.
Feelings are not just revisited, but continued
“Pokémon FireRed” and “Pokémon LeafGreen” themselves are classic remakes of the first generation in the third generation. Now it is back on Switch, and with the addition of HOME linkage, this batch of 2004 Pokémon truly spans more than 20 years.
From Game Boy Advance to Switch 2, the same Pokémon can continue its journey. This is the true legacy of the series!
