“Superman Mavis”, which was broadcast in 2006, comes from the M78 Nebula Land of Light. Unlike the previous “Superman MAX”, the biggest feature of the series is his interconnected worldview with the previous Showa supermen. Now this work has been remastered in HD for the first time and is presented in a new high-definition format.
If you have been buying Superman Blu-ray discs, you should know that the first high-definition Blu-ray since the release of Superman Mae Bees is “Armageddon!” “Ultra ULTRA 8 Brothers” and “Big Monster Fighting Ultra Galaxy Legend THE MOVIE” begin! Therefore, the “Superman Mavis” series and the “Superman Mavis & Superman Brothers” movie have not yet been officially released in high definition.
This product not only contains all 50 episodes of the TV animation, but also includes all series content such as theatrical movies, streaming and original videos. For the first time, it is gathered into a set of products, so that all the stories can be enjoyed in HD remastered high quality.
“Superman Mavis Complete Blu-ray BOX” contains a total of 9 Blu-ray discs and 2 books. The “Complete Edition” launched to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the broadcast next year, is a commemorative luxury BOX product.
Review of “Superman Mavis”
“Superman Mavis” was produced in 2006 as an important work in the “40th anniversary commemoration of the Superman series”.
The biggest feature of this work is that it is interconnected with the world view built by the super heroes from the M78 Nebula, the Land of Light, and the Showa era, from the first generation of Superman to Superman 80.
With the theme of “friendship”, it depicts the story of Mebis, a newbie Superman, growing up with the members of the fledgling Earth Defense Force “CREW GUYS”.
In addition to the TV broadcast, theatrical versions, streaming and original works were also launched, as well as spin-off DVDs released after the end of the TV series, which enriched the world of the overall work and wrote an important page in the history of the Superman series.
The most eye-catching highlight is the dreamy performance with the legendary “Superman Brothers”. With the release of the movie “Superman & the Superman Brothers”, the Superman brothers have also appeared in the TV series.

These guest episodes based on classic settings also invited many original actors to personally perform in the human body, allowing the charm of Showa Superman to once again arouse the craze in the Heisei generation.
Starring Hayashi Igarashi, who has appeared in “ROOKIES” and “Heavenly Kiss”, plays the new superman “Mavis” – a member of Hibino Mirai (ヒビノ・Miruru). The performance is fresh and natural, telling a touching story of a man who is sent to the earth, faces various trials with novice defense members, and builds friendship through mutual support.
The defense team “CREW GUYS” who fights with Mavis is played by many unique young actors such as Kaki Nishikawa, Ai Saikawa, Daisuke Watanabe, Misato Hirata, and Kenta Uchino.
The role of “Sakuma”, the gentle yet mysterious captain who leads them, is brilliantly played by Minoru Tanaka.

This work subverts the established formula of the Superman series, revealing the true identity of the protagonist (Superman) in the middle of the plot and continuing to develop the story. This unique plot arrangement, as well as the high tribute to the Showa series and the supplementary content, make “Mavis” a classic that is widely supported across generations.
“Mavis” becomes the second installment of the “Superman Series HD Remake Project for the Late Heisei Period”!
As the second work of the “Late Heisei Ultraman Series HD Remaster Project”, this work was officially announced at the large-scale Ultraman series fan event “TSUBURAYA CONVENTION 2025” held on September 13, 2025.
This project started with the post-Heisei series after “Superman Goss”, with “Superman MAX” being the first wave, and has continued to be made into HD. “Mavis” not only covers TV series, but also includes streaming original works, theatrical versions and other multi-format content. Therefore, this time it has been specially optimized for comprehensive HD, allowing the audience to relive this classic with more natural and higher-resolution picture quality.
Since “Superman Gauss” in 2001, later Heisei works have gradually adopted digital production, and extensively integrated special photography and CG (computer image synthesis) to create visual effects that are different from ordinary TV series.
This HD remake is based on the original material of the SD (standard picture quality) film produced that year, and has been carefully adjusted and improved for each scene performance, so that modern family environments can also enjoy natural and delicate high-quality images.
