The character of Jimmy Olsen is traditionally a photojournalist wearing a bow tie and a pimple on his face. He is Clark’s good friend in the Daily Planet. In the Oka version, although he is still not very good-looking, he is very popular with women, and he even managed to get Lex’s girlfriend! Does this ruin the character of Jimmy Olsen? In the decades of history, the character Jimmy Olsen has indeed had contrasting settings. He has become a playboy, popular with women, and even so handsome that Superman cannot recognize him. But these are short-lived amusing episodes, and Gunn just borrowed a setting to use.
As for Jimmy Olsen, the BVS CIA agent, Director Cha said: “We don’t have any extra space for Jimmy Olsen in this huge character universe, but we can play some tricks with him, right?” In the theatrical version, he only appeared as a reporter, and was not explicitly identified as CIA, nor was he explicitly named “Jimmy Olsen”. Seriously, what is a dark style? Is it like THE BATMAN where the picture is dark? Or is it dark violence if it has bloody violence?
For me, I just hope that someone will be ready to make superhero movies seriously. When I was a kid, I loved watching ULTRAMAN and Kamen Rider! Of course, I hope that in the future we can make childish plots that are not just catered to children. The leather jackets and weirdos must be realistic, and the monsters must be real in their enormity. The plots do not need to be deliberately dark, as long as they are not childish plots from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s.
Is 1989’s Batman dark? I don’t think the second episode of Penguin and Catwoman has the dark tone of a weird psychological drama! I only feel that Nolan’s Batman is like a cop or 007 movie. Director Cha’s trilogy is a comic adaptation with a very strict plot. It has Tim Burton’s magic and Nolan’s certain realism. It is somewhat different from the world view of the DCEU in the later non-Cha director era, where technology and magic are too far ahead.
What I hate the most is that those who sing good propaganda in the market all boast that Director Oka is the person who knows comics best, and that the new Superman is the Superman who restores Reeve and the comics! He also knows how to film some unknown characters and a large number of group scenes. If you watch a certain director and Superman actor and ask me questions, he doesn’t even know Clark’s full name! Is his version of Superman’s suit made by Kryptonian technology or made by his mother? Why does LEX hate Superman? It turns out that he didn’t set it seriously. He just thought that the audience is familiar with Superman and doesn’t need to overdo it.
Interestingly, when the new Superman was released, more people went to watch Warner’s HBO MAX on MOS, and it even made the list! Fans will inevitably make comparisons and bicker online. What I’m saying is, do your homework when you argue. Strictly speaking, MOS’s Heng Chao has just changed his clothes and is not ready to debut yet. He has to face the invasion of Krypton’s fellow tribesmen, one against many, and also has to deal with the machines and devices Krypton placed on the earth. Lack of maturity is understandable. BVS is officially debuting. It has to face the world’s opinions and find out whether its path is correct! ZJL is a superman who died and was resurrected to become the image everyone thinks of him.
Director Oka’s Superman has been around for three years, so he should have matured and mastered his power. But we saw another thing. He basically filmed Superman as Spider-Man.
When I wrote this, I had just finished watching “Fantastic Four”. I didn’t take pictures of the origins, but I used scenes from the scene to explain it. Even some of the evil villains in the anime explained it with flashbacks. They were very sincere, much more sincere than Oka’s words… Moreover, there is a scene where a big monster invades and the citizens are carefully arranged to evacuate.
