Since we have already written No. 1, V3, RIDERMAN, and X, is there no reason not to write No. 2? No. 2 is the first “Two Rider” to appear. The original script did not include Kamen Rider No. 2 because the protagonist Hiroshi Fujioka had an accident while riding a motorcycle during the filming of episode 10. His left thigh suffered a comminuted fracture and he had to stay in the hospital for six months to recuperate. At that time, internal meetings were held to discuss suggestions such as changing the role of the protagonist, being captured for plastic surgery, or dying.
In the end, producer Hiroshi Hirayama insisted, and the local hero No. 1 was retained and replaced with the new No. 2! The chosen protagonist is also Tsuyoshi Sasaki from Ono Yukenkai, and Tsuyoshi Sasaki is also very loyal and promised the production team, “I will make sure that I am not trying to steal Fujioka’s role, but will temporarily replace him. As soon as he recovers and returns, I will give the role back to him!”

Ichibun Hayato, played by Tsuyoshi Sasaki, was officially handed over to Hiroshi Fujioka from the 14th episode to the 52nd episode. He played a total of 38 episodes in the first half of the series. Before No. 1 returns to play the second half, I believe the audience is more familiar with No. 2 than No. 1!

After No. 2 takes over, there will be a supplementary scene at the beginning of each episode about how he was transformed by the repair card.
Although there have been magazines recording the behind-the-scenes history of Showa RIDER in recent years. For example, Sakurajima No. 1 only had dark green paint available for sale locally, but you can still listen to the new version. Recently, Michi Yamato of Ono Kenyoukai (Kamen Rider’s stand-in martial arts group) revealed the secret history of No. 1 and No. 2 on his YOUTUBE channel.

It turns out that the look of the old No. 2 was originally prepared for the old No. 1 early in the morning, because it was difficult to take pictures of the old No. 1 when filming the second episode of Night Land! Therefore, the production team planned to repaint the holster of No. 1 very early. The center and mouth of the helmet mask were painted silver, and large silver strips were sewn on the clothes, all in order to clearly capture the appearance of RIDER in the dark night scene.

In the dark night scene, the old number one is difficult to clearly see and capture in the lens.
So this new painted version was produced early before Hiroshi Fujioka was injured. It may be God’s arrangement, but Fujioka was injured not long after it was completed! The results are used on RIDER No. 2.

The old No. 2 paint job was originally prepared for No. 1.

The silver lines and the silver color of the helmet are all to give the Kamen Rider more light spots.
As for the red hand and foot covers of the new No. 2, they were also done accidentally! It is said that when the new No. 2 came on stage, one of the prepared left gloves was seriously faded and fell off. Since it was very strange to shoot like this, they simply painted the rest of the left glove red on site, and just like that, the new No. 2 with red hand and foot gloves was born! It is said that this statement was confirmed by the second actor Go Sasaki, because he also helped with the painting.

(In this way, the second number of THE series basically did not change the color and did not have red gloves. Could it be a kind of tribute?) It is worth noting that when the new number 2 appeared in the 72nd chapter “Vampire モスキラス対二人ライダー”, the left glove was indeed seriously discolored. As the new number 2 appeared, the gloves were very old, so it was confirmed.
