Do you still remember that when the movie “Sonic 3” was released last year, SEGA launched a special Genesis (Mega Drive) cartridge as a promotional prop? Although the contents of the card box itself are just some character images, posters and mini-games, and cannot be called a real game work, it is a working physical card box, and it is very rare – and you know what this means.
Yes, this card box is now officially listed on eBay, with an asking price of US$28,000 (approximately MYR 132,000 / NT$880,000 / HKD 219,000). The seller “grj409” is also open to “negotiation”, but we can reasonably speculate that the trial bid of five yuan will not even be notified.
According to the product description, the seller calls this cartridge “the Holy Grail of Sonic collectors,” and only about 150 sets will be produced worldwide. This item is fully boxed, complete with all promotional items, and the condition is marked “New”, although judging from the photos, there appear to be some minor tears in the corners of the box.

In any case, it can indeed be called a “display-level collectible”, but… the price is too eye-catching – maybe because the three zeros at the back are too eye-catching.
It is reported that this cartridge was originally only provided to specific content creators as gifts in November 2024, and later some appeared in the movie promotion event “12 Hours of Sonic” as raffle prizes. The seller doesn’t say where this eBay listing comes from, but regardless, it’s one of those rare collectibles that we’ll never be able to afford.
