The new “Clover Studio” led by gaming legend Hideki Kamiya is currently developing “Okami 2” as its first work, but the team emphasized that it will not be limited to continuing old well-known IPs in the future.
In a recent exclusive interview with Japanese media GameSpark, Hideki Kamiya and former PlatinumGames colleague Kento Koyama said that although the new studio will start with the sequel to “Okami”, it will still explore the possibility of “new original IP” in the future.
According to a VGC translation report, Xiaoshan said: “When considering the next project, we may find it interesting to make a sequel or spiritual sequel, or we may develop a new IP entirely.”
Kamiya added that the studio certainly does not exclude creation based on existing IP. As long as the team is enthusiastic about the proposal and can display its own style and produce the so-called “Wow feeling”, it is willing to invest in production.

Focus on the development of “Master 2”, the platform and launch time have not yet been announced
At present, the studio’s primary goal is still “Okami 2”, which will be produced by Hideki Kamiya himself. However, no release date and corresponding platform have been announced for this game, and it is still in the early stages of development.
The new Clover Studio formed by Kamiya and Koyama is regarded as a continuation of the spirit of the original Clover Studio. The original studio developed unique works such as “Okami” and “Viewtiful Joe” under Capcom. Later, many core members transferred to PlatinumGames. Now that Kamiya has separated from Platinum and re-established the team, many fans are looking forward to whether, in addition to “Okami 2”, it will also bring more new works with distinctive styles and breakthrough frameworks.
