Sony discontinued the PlayStation 1 decades ago, and although it launched the PlayStation Classic in 2018, its focus is now on the PS5 and PS5 Pro. However, a batch of “new PS1” appeared in Iran, and even had special packaging, making netizens exclaim: “This is so funny!”
According to news shared by game developer Elias Daler, Iranian companies are selling “refurbished PS1s” and selling them as “new inventory.” Daler revealed: “My Iranian friends told me that someone is selling refurbished PS1s and putting them in special new packaging, pretending to be a brand-new console. This is really funny.”
Judging from the pictures shared by Daler, this batch of “new PS1” has been carefully packaged and sealed, and there is a pile of boxes with slightly rough printing quality next to them, which looks quite “retro”.
As soon as the news came out, many players said: “This is simply a copycat iPhone in the PS1 world!” “Is there really a way for Iran to turn back time?” “If I can buy it at a cheap price, I really want to buy one!” Of course, there are also collectors who believe that compared to this “remastered version”, the original packaged PS1 is more valuable.
