Dear old players, EA is kind to you this time – “The Sims 1” and “The Sims 2” are finally available on Steam, Epic Games Store (EGS) and EA App, making these two classic simulation masterpieces officially return to the digital platform! However, don’t be too happy too early, because this time EA still ignores console players. These two games are currently only available on the PC platform, and there are no plans for any console versions.

Exclusive for PC, console players can only drool
Currently, players can choose to purchase “The Sims Legacy Collection” (the complete version of “The Sims 1”), “The Sims 2 Legacy Collection” (“The Sims 2” including expansion packs), or “The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle” (a special 25th anniversary bundle, sold at a discount). However, these games are currently only available on the PC platform and there is no console version. Switch players can only stare.
Of course old fans love and hate this. After all, these two games were irreplaceable on the PC platform back then, but console players can only continue to reminisce about the “MySims Cozy Bundle” (forget it).
A console version is nowhere in sight, but maybe Switch2 has a chance?
If you are still looking forward to these two masterpieces landing on the console, you may have to wait until Switch2. According to recent news, Switch2 may have Joy-Con with built-in mouse function. If this is true, then the possibility of porting the “Sims” series to Switch2 will greatly increase.

After all, it is unlikely that EA is willing to re-adjust the UI and optimize the operation method for the old console now, but if Switch 2 really supports mouse functions, then porting “The Sims, 1 & 2” will not be so troublesome.
A paradise for nostalgic gamers, it can also be played on Steam Deck
Although there is no console version, players with Steam Deck should be able to play these two works through touch screens and trackpads, which is a compromise. But don’t forget, the EA App version probably won’t run natively on the Steam Deck, so it’s safer to buy the Steam version.
EA: That’s it, stop arguing about the console version
EA’s approach this time is obviously: “Now that the PC version is available, what kind of bikes do you want?” Although console players are a little disappointed, this wave of classic remakes is still something to be happy about for old players. After all, now you can finally get rid of the discs and get genuine copies, and you no longer need to find old machines to play these masterpieces.
